Behind the Hustle: Sonya Spann (@sonyaspann)

Sonya Spann is the Founder and Director at Here, There, and Everywhere Events, an event consulting company that specializes in creating eco-friendly, technology driven events for nonprofits, startups, and small businesses.

Sonya has more than 5 years of experience working in house and consulting for organizations of all sizes across several different verticals in the events and marketing space. Her involvement in the first ever global women’s week has been featured in Forbes and she has been identified as an influencer in best practice for networking events by Linkedin’s Professional Women’s Network.

Outside of the events industry, Sonya works as the marketing and development manager for a New York based nonprofit that provides innovative solutions in the child welfare field as well as with a pre-launch investment fund focused on ventures in Africa.
The world knows me as: Sonya Spann

I have also been known to respond to the name: Satara

My professional superpower is: I’m a mind reader of sorts- I anticipate what people need and am usually able to direct them to how they can get it.

The #1 thing people can hire me to do is: Strengthen your brand- through live events or an effective digital marketing strategy.

I’m most passionate about: All of my work is devoted to this theory that the world is flat and that everyone should have the opportunity to succeed. I find that my work with events particularly creates an environment for interaction that encourages this notion through the relationships that are created and the causes, projects and initiatives that are funded.

The technology that I wouldn’t want to live without is: My smartphone

The app I use most obsessively is: Hootsuite and GoogleMaps- They satisfy my need to be everywhere all the time.

The most innovative use of event tech I’ve ever seen is: I’m a huge Splashthat fan. What makes it innovative is its all in one approach to the planning process-maximizing engagement before, during, and after the event.

My go-to guilty pleasure food is: Potato chips, particularly Kettle Brand (the louder the crunch the better)

The thing that always gets me to laugh without fail is: My little sister’s laugh. It’s loud, youthful and just infectious.

One thing that would really surprise people to learn about me is:  I didn’t choose this life, this life chose me! As cliche as that sounds, it’s simply the truth. I stumbled into the events industry by meeting people who recognized talent in me that I hadn’t really figured out how to harness until given the opportunity. It’s been really exciting and I’ve met so many people that continue to shape my perspective of the world and the influence each and every person has on the lives of many
