Event Tech of the Week: @mapp2link
Today, we’re talking about mapp2link
What is the “problem” that your tool seeks to solve?
In the course of our normal business lives, whether attending conferences/events or when travelling, we may not know it, but we’re surrounded by like-minded and well-connected professionals. So whether you’re trying to find sales prospects, suitable business partners or a future employer or employee, mapp2link is your essential ‘radar’ assisting in making smart, qualified connections
How is your tool different from/better than the competition?
As the first app of its kind, mapp2link sends users a push message on their smartphone whenever valued LinkedIn contacts are nearby, without compromising privacy. The hotspot function makes the app perfect for networking at conferences and business events. The app accesses LinkedIn™ and uses the smartphone to build a bridge between the virtual on-line world and real life.
What is the single coolest feature of your product?
mapp2link is a first of its kind – a ‘bridging’ technology between the virtual worlds we spend an increasing amount of time in and the physical world we live in. We’ll prompt you when one of your key LinkedIn contacts is near you wherever you are in the world. At conference and events, you can see who else is attending and network and meet-up with them.
Anything else we need to know?
Users can search within the app to see who’s near or attending the same event – from here it’s easy to message and arrange an impromptu meet-up. mapp2link provides event organizers with access to a web based CMS platform through which they can upload information for their events, such as the agenda, documents, and images. In addition they can communicate key messages to delegates before, during and after the event.
This weekly series spotlights a new tech tool that is designed to help make planning events much more seamless. Whether it’s using event software to track every detail from start to finish or mobile apps that deliver content to attendees’ fingertips, these technologies allow planners to divert their stress to more critical issues like deciding which napkin color looks best.
