Event Tech of the Week: @Slidoapp
Today, we’re talking about sli.do:
Company/Tool Name: sli.do
Website: https://www.sli.do
Twitter: https://twitter.com/slidoapp
Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/slidoapp
What is the “problem” that your tool seeks to solve?
The research has shown that 74% of the audience fears public speaking and that on a typical average-sized conference only 2-5% of the audience really get a chance to participate in the Q&A sessions and panel discussions. So many of the best questions get never asked.
sli.do is a web-based Q&A and polling platform for live events that makes it super easy for everyone in the audience to ask questions and vote on live polls via their phones, tablets or computers.
What is the best audience for this tool? Corporate events? Social? Other? Large? Small?
sli.do is an ideal fit for the following event formats:
1. Panel discussions – incorporate audience questions and comments throughout the whole panel instead of waiting for the last 5 minutes
- Hybrid Events – give online and on-site participants the same platform to participate
- Large Conferences – give people chance to ask question even when it is impossible to run around with the mic
- Staff meetings – learn what your employees really think and get even questions no one would dare to ask in public
- Prezi talks – seamlessly integrate polls and audience Q&A with your Prezi
What does your tool help event planners do better?
sli.do helps event organizers to boost audience engagement and make their events truly interactive.
sli.do democratizes the interaction at events by including everyone in the discussion. It gives all participants an equal chance to ask their questions regardless of their public speaking skills. The attendees can also vote for the questions that they find the most interesting so presenters and panelists address the topics that the audience cares about with priority.
Moreover, sli.do lets attendees express their opinion by voting on live polls. Live polling makes the delegates feel heard and evokes a strong group experience, making everyone feel a part of the story.
How is your tool different from/better than the competition?
sli.do differs from the competition for its:
Simplicity – Organizers can create an event in less than 1 minute, while participants get just 1 simple code to join in. No need to register or download anything.
Flexibility – event organizers are able to embed sli.do into any website or mobile app
Affordability – sli.do is based on the freemium model, allowing users to use sli.do Basic plan for free
What is the single coolest feature of your product?
We’ve developed the first-ever Google Glass application for event moderators that they can pair with sli.do and see the incoming audience’s questions from in the Glass. They can then seamlessly integrate the best questions into the discussion.
Anything else we need to know?
Big things are cooking up that will make the interaction at events even more engaging. Stay tuned for the updates :).
