techsytalk’s Epic Guide to Event Tech Trends in 2015: RIP PAPER REGISTRATION

Welcome to 2015. Another year filled with promise and potential. An opportunity to re-organize your life and get back on top of the game before the year takes over. Like many event planners, you’ve probably resolved to figure out this “technology” thing that everyone seems to be talking about so I’ve put together this guide to help you understand some of the big trends to be on the lookout for in 2015. I’d recommend taking a bit of time this month to research a few of these topics and see how you can implement some of them at your upcoming events. Forcing yourself to test out new technology trends is the most effective way to get the experience you need to make technology a driving force in your life and your events.

RIP Paper Registration

I know, I know. I’ve been saying this for years, but I’m not giving up. I’m literally shocked each time I show up to attend an event and the staff is flipping through pages of outdated excel sheets. WHY? Ease, accuracy and efficiency are some of the cornerstones of an event planner’s creed, yet we’re still doing things the ancient way. So – I’m making this prediction. Come hell or high water, 2015 will be the year paper registration leaves our world for most events.

Our Techsy Tip: Stop using paper registration. Seriously. Just stop. At a minimum, try a product (there are many free ones out there) that will let you upload your finalized guest list and check people in at the door. But, going full throttle and using a registration system that integrates with an at-the-door check in system will make your life exponentially easier. I promise if you give it a try, you’ll never go back. This is possibly the easiest (and least expensive) way to techsify your next event!
