We Pinned It: Sustainable Event Design

2015 marks the 45th anniversary of Earth Day and, if we stop to take a look at how far we’ve come, you’ll see that we have made great strides since the first environmental teach-in back in 1970. Reduce, reuse, recycle has become a way of life for many of us, as Earth Day is now observed in over 190 countries.

When planning your next event, whether it’s a wedding, a concert, or a child’s birthday party, consider sustainability. We’re not saying your wedding gown has to be made out of hemp (unless you want it to be!) but you might consider carrying herbs or vegetables in your bouquet, or serving organic meats. Utilize technology to cut back on paper for tickets, registration and banners, and offer your guests a place to recycle their bottles and cans. Finally, use compostable cloth napkins and utensils instead of plastic.

Consider being a part of the “Pledge to Plant” this year and give back to the Earth on April 22nd by planting seeds or a tree.
