Give us your best elevator pitch:

The Doubletree Suites by Hilton Doheny Beach is a newly renovated boutique-style, full-service hotel located across the street from world famous Doheny State Beach, and centrally located 70 minutes south of Los Angles and 70 minutes North of San Diego on California’s Pacific Coast Highway. The hotel’s décor is inspired by its beachside location, and the Baja California surf culture that is prevalent along the Southern California Coast. With many of our Guest Suites and event spaces offering beautiful ocean views, and our outdoor rooftop lounge offering breathtaking Ocean and Sunset views, we are the best value full service beach front hotel in the South Orange County, CA.

What would you say is your most unique offering?

The Hotel has two unique outdoor venues where guests are able to enjoy the Sunny Southern California weather while looking out over the Pacific Ocean, and our beautiful sunsets. MoQUIA agave bar is an indoor, mostly outdoor venue located on the top floor of the hotel offering Ocean and Sunset views, a full agave bar, and serving small plates such as streets tacos, tableside guacamole, chips with flights of salsa, mini quesadillas and other small bites. MoQUILA is open to the public, however we do utilize the space for private events. Our second unique space is our Sunset Deck. Also located on the top floor of the hotel, however the Sunset Deck is entirely outdoors and has one of the best views in all of Dana Point of Doheney State Beach and the surfers riding waves.

What do you think would surprise most planners to know about your space?

We believe the hotel’s intimacy would pleasantly surprise most planners. With all our guest rooms being suites, offering separate living and bedroom areas allowing guests plenty of space to spread out and lounge comfortably in the privacy of their suites, along with the hotels comfortable and casual indoor/outdoor construction, ocean views and the staffs sincere and genuine customer service, our intimacy truly sets us apart – With only 196 suites, 13,000 sq. ft. of meeting and event space, a restaurant, and bar all under one roof, a courtyard swimming pool and being located across the street from Doheny Beach, guest feel very comfortable at the DoubleTree Suites Doheny Beach Hotel.

What is one thing you wish more event planners knew about your space?

The Hotel has 13,000 sq. ft. of meeting and event space with two of the meeting rooms offering ocean views, four additional rooms having outdoor patios, and all meeting rooms having natural light.

What is the most memorable thing you’ve seen an event do with your space?

This past Summer there was a very large wedding in the area. The grooms family had looked up and down the coast for a hospitality area for family and friends to gather as many guests were from out of the area. As soon as the event planner walked into MoQUILA, looked out onto the Pacific Ocean and the sun setting, she called the grooms family and said, “I found it”. The family contracted MoQUILA and turned it into a luxurious Bedouin tent for the long weekend for out of town guest to meet, mingle and gather with the groom and his family.

If you could throw one dream event, what would it be?

Due to the hotels beachside location, and it’s indoor/outdoor construction, the hotel has an Endless Summer Beach House feel. I would rent out the entire hotel for a few days for my companies annual sales meeting and turn the hotel into a large house. We would obviously utilize the hotel to sleep, meet/train, eat and socialize, and take advantage of the beach for social events on and off the water. I would use the lobby as a living room and gathering place, the hotels indoor/outdoor poolside restaurant Doheny Surf as the kitchen and dining room for the group, the top floor decks that overlook the ocean, MoQUILA and the Sunset Deck as patios that one would find at their Ocean View homes as the snack and drinking areas, and the hotel’s meeting and event spaces for our educational workshops and trainings.
