Behind the Hustle: Nichole Batts (@nicharpevents)
Nichole Batts is the senior administrative assistant to the senior vice president at Verisk Insurance Solutions (VIS). VIS is the leading source of solutions for the property and casualty insurance industry and part of Verisk Analytics (Nasdaq VRSK).
Prior to her administrative position she was an inside sales representative and sales lead coordinator where she helped the sales area increase annual revenue as well as attendance to some of the corporate events. Recognizing her niche, Nichole started working with the corporate meetings and travel department as the liaison between them and sales on behalf of the senior vice president.
Nichole began her career as a graphic artist and is a graduate from New York City Technical College of the City University of New York where she received her bachelor’s degree in GA and Advertising Management. In 2014, she received her Meeting, Conference and Event Management certificate from New York University – School of Continuing and Professional Studies. She is currently a student member of the International Special Events Society – Metro chapter and sits on the membership and programs committee. With GOD’s grace Nichole continues to strive for excellence both as an administrative assistant and events coordinator/planner.

“The Hustle”
Job Title: Senior Administrative Assistant
Professional Superpower: Being detailed oriented
My primary role in the events industry is: Event Coordinator
Years in the events industry: one
To me, being an event hustler means: To get out and put your best foot forward. Join an industry organization, volunteer for various events and build relationships. Look for positions where you can grow. Give 110% on every project whether it’s small or epic. Try to have fun and enjoy what you are doing.
The top 2 most surprising things I’ve learned about the events industry since starting are:
- How small this industry is in terms of people we know/meet.
- It’s not how big your wallet is but how big your imagination is.
How did you get your start in the events industry? I planned my destination wedding in Nassau, Bahamas. This was a 3 day event with 52 attendees and it sparked an innate talent that I didn’t know existed. That was the beginning of my passion.
My biggest event industry pet peeve is: Lack of team work and motivation.
“No such thing as TMI”
One thing that would really surprise people to learn about me is: I wanted to be a beautician from the time I could walk until I was 13 years old.
You can only keep 2 albums in your entire music collection -those albums would be:
- Marvin Gaye Anthology
- Sylvester’s Greatest Hits
10yr old me thought I’d grow up to be: A beautician to the stars.
